The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

Wheel on tacx flow setup. I saw a random post online about a DIY wood zwift table. Built a similar table out of scrap set the height of the bottom shelf to just clear the ipad. Mounted costco sale TV from the ceiling. I am planning to mount a fan with remote on the table cross brace, but haven't done that yet. Also thought about upgrading to a tacx neo, but haven't been able to justify the expense yet. Lots of issues trainer flats when i first started out. Now as part of the normal zwift ritual, i always pressurize the tire to 96-psi before starting and haven't flatted since the last time i didn't set the tire pressure before a ride.

And most proud of the great covid basement cleanout of 2020

Normally just spin. Sometimes i watch TV. Sometimes I chase whoever is in front of me. Sometimes i join scheduled rides. Based on discussion above and other threads, signed up for the build me up program yesterday and that will begin Monday. Set my FTP based on my strava 6 week power curve at 95% of the 20min effort and see how training program goes.
I had to do a double take, I thought you had your bike on the treadmill at first.

forget zwift looks like you can just ride around in the basement!

i agree with the others tho, do the ramp test its not that awful and gives you a better idea where youre at. I will do one next week for comparison next month.

So first of all, here’s my setup. Kreitler compact rollers and a small fan, parked next to the wife’s Peleton which has been used 5x in the 6 months we’ve had it. Large screen tv, but I gave up on watching shows that aren’t hockey. I wear a set of headphones and listen to music.

So I was about an hour into a ride listening to "Siamese Dream" and having my moment. My son was watching some stupid YouTube video of some jerks talking and texting over a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Hey! Did you know Sylvester Stallone was in Guardians of the Galaxy? Rocky! ROCKY, BABY!! THE Sylvester Stallone? I didn't know that so I was shocked to notice him up there. How shocked? Enough that I lost concentration and veered right of the rollers. Did I say right off the rollers? I meant left off the rollers. I didn't even see that I came off, cuz I was too busy looking at Sly Fucking Stallone as an extra in a superhero movie. I just felt a sudden sense of disorientation and movement.
Next thing I know, the Peloton comes at me from the left like Peter Sagan in a sprint finish and throws an elbow to my ribcage. I wobbled to the right and then overcorrected while track standing and toppled into the Peloton. Selfishly, I prioritized the safety of my own bike first, then that of the Peloton. Obviously I put myself last because my back has big scratches and a rug burn mark on it and I cut my knee open on something or other.
My son was startled enough that he ran out of the basement. My wife ran down the stairs to check on the Peloton. My little girl told me that I probably needed to take some time to rest. I did another 20 minutes until the throbbing stopped and hung it up for the night. Most importantly, the bike is fine.
Can't wait for warmer weather and dry roads.
D@mmit, I was holding out hope to find another Peloton user in this thread...

I picked up a Quadlock for my phone a while back and today I decided to use it to ride Repack Ridge (for those unfamiliar, to ride the MTB trail "Repack Ridge" on Zwift, you have to be able to steer. You can do it using the companion app, which is why I needed to attach my phone.) This was the first time I ever rode the Ridge - the steering is super sensitive, so I was kind of all over the place, but I sort of settled down by the end of the trail. However, once I finished the segment itself, Zwift seemed to go haywire on me, and suddenly I wasn't riding any road or trail - I was literally pedaling across the sky, as in the picture above. I couldn't get it to return to the road, so I had to stop the ride and restart. I looked online and apparently, this is a thing that happens sometimes - one guy called it "pterodactyl mode". Anyone ever experience this? It was weird - a little before I took this picture, I was riding under the ground and could look up and see riders passing above me.

I did this the other day....took my last Glen Park enduro race and made it into a course. The climbing works fine on the trainer, but the downhills do not....I will have to make a custom version of this to better mimic it....like after the climb, 5min easy, 5 min sprint efforts, something like that

We have the Stages SC3 spin bike, thing is rock solid. Kinda wish we had the SB20 looking at that now. Peloton issue might be the reason for the price drops?

It is a consumer durable. Once sold, it doesn't create anymore income. They have a lack of name recognition vs peloton.
I'm sure they were priced to "compete" but it is just a trainer with a bike around it. You'll need to bring your own electronics.
Bet they could price it all the way down to compete with the smart trainer market.

Using DTs logic, which is solid, he isn't destroying an expensive drivetrain on a basement bike.
It is easily adjusted to see if fit needs to be tweaked on a real bike.
There are real benefits - just that $2,500 buys quite a few shifter cables, chains, and cassettes....
Used kickr is around $700 right now.....

PS -
This is cool! but need power pedals. Peloton is also not smart controlled - so you'll need to turn the knob.

When the peloton bikes hit the free pile, this might be the way to go!
If i remember, there is a smart knob out there somewhere. (and not in the british slang sense)

yeah thats completely not a coincidence. Trying to capitalize on the Peleton issues, but without an ecosystem its not really the same thing IMO

i believe the new (2nd gen) peloton bike IS smart controlled for resistance (they call it auto-resistance)
