IGVENTURE

My grandson Charles Wamhoff Borgerding IV
This is a great passive aggessive name. The Charles is easy enough to say but the rest of that shit is way too complicated. That name is a great way to annoy teachers on the first day of school.

you want easy name?
Pete Best

Unless your named after the memory of a beloved family patriarch. My bad Matty😱

My dad grew up with the name Homer Oscar Brawley Jr., named after his dad. Growing up in the small town of Moorseville NC, this was not an uncommon name.

As he got older he began to become self conscious about his name due to getting teased. As a teenager he went to his mom and asked Why did you name me Homer?(his dad died when he was 10). His mom was upset and insulted that he wasn't proud of his name.

I'm just glad my dad didn't stick me with Homer Oscar Brawley II. Iggy sounds much better😉

interesting. Tough in the days before common use of "whats up homie!!!"

Im named after my grandfather...his real name was Amato...he hated it and adopted the nick name Joe. Im named Joe and adopted the nick name utah...my mother thinks im insulting my grandfather by embracing being called utah and not Joe....go figure 🙂

For the Love of Wayway

Instead of whinning that I broke my derailleur hanger at the end of the first lap(stick in pic above got caught in cassette & spokes), I'm gonna talk about why I love the Bearscat 50. I feel that I would have been a contender for 5th If*, but there are about 3 other people that could have beaten me to take 5th If*...

*If only; my bike didn't break, my head didn't boil, I didn't slam my nutsack into my stem, I slept more then 2hrs last night, my knee worked...

This is the best race course due to the amount of quality trails, close to 25miles of terrain that offers challenge without getting stupid. The first 10+ miles are incredible; pump house, lookout, pickle, rattlesnake, fisherman, sitting bear. These trails are distinct sections that reward the technical rider. I don't know the names of the trails on the 2nd half of the course other then rock-a-dendron. The last 10 miles is not as tecnical but features like nature Jims bridge are thrown in to keep you on your toes.

Jungle Habitat and Blue offer good technical challenges in the h2h races but on a much smaller scale. Nothing beats the volume of great material that the BS 50 has to offer. Ramapo/ Ringwood or Mooch land has a ton of great tech stuff and could produce an endurance race course matching the epicness of the BS50, however there are no races held at these places. I maintain that the Bearscat 50 is the best endurance mtb course, period. The fact that every year only half the racers finish the course and yet still come back again next year proves that this course is worth the challenge.

Congrats to those who completed 50, its an accomplishment! Thank you Black Bear cycling for hosting the best endurance mtb race!

Luck for you at your age you don't need your nutsack.

Midweek Pick-Me-Up

I did the HG A ride last night. The last time I did this ride was the end of April, so I was due. Norm and Utah joined in the fun as well, its always cool to have teammates on this ride. The best thing I like about this ride is the fact that I feel perked up afterwards and it makes the daily work grind more bearable. Riding with a fast group also forces you to work harder and get out of your comfort zone, I need to do this on occasion. Doing intervals solo based on my ftp is deliberate and calculated training, doing the A ride is more like race situations where you have to match someone elses efforts or better them.

I've got fajita's for lunch today.

Good seeing you out there, and good to see the orange and blue as 3 of the 6 people left when we split off. Liberty Corner was about all I had in me but that's my own undoing as I was a bit more aggressive than I should have been up to that point. But yesterday was the best I've felt all year. F these allergies and the cicadas too while we're there.

Ya good ride last night. We had a nice pull going up Liberty. Its nice to see the sneeze is joining us on the climb now. Did I give you a lead out for the first sprint?

You were riding really strong, hard to believe you haven't been on a bike much this year.

Yeah you gave me a nice lead out for the sprint. I am never really sure where these things start or end. I saw the road ahead and knew we were close. Thats when I shot around you and tried to stay away. Sneeze and Goret came around me near the line, still good enough for 3rd.

Lewmo

With no racing until later this month at Lewis Morris, I decided to put together a training block. This helps me to keep more focused instead of just riding around. This is basically out of the book from Battenkill training. I am going to mix it up a bit to keep it more fun and less regimented. Going out solo to do intervals all the time gets old, riding with people is always more fun. However I do get a sense of satisfaction and the feeling like I accomplished something after doing interval work. Well anyways here's what I did this week.
Tuesday HG A Ride
Wednesday Interval work
Thursday microbursts

Evan's Prom
Evan had his prom last night. As a parent seeing all these kids grown up really illustrates the work of time and the aging process. I've know some of these kids since they were children through coaching sports or being involved in scouting. I am both happy and sad when I see these kids. I'm sad knowing that the days of childhood are over for them but I am also happy for the young adults they turned out to be and the fact that I was able to be apart of there growing up. I am also sad because this all reminds me of the fact that I'm turning into an old fuck.

I'll post a pic later today. I'm at work and don't have access to my photo's.

True, you are a sad old fuck. This is life, deal with it. Perhaps you need a rocking chair?
