Commuting

thanks.

thought about it today because I'll have to pretty soon

Admin is finally figuring out how to consolidate offices after years of wasted space and money. Right now, it gets it's own cubicle next to me. Actually right now, it's in a better cube than me. It's in an office with a door. My bike is higher on the totem pole than me 😱

I need to light a fire under ChrisRU's ass he has been slacking and today was a good day for him to get back on the horse. Don't get me started with Soundz.

As I sat around the house yesterday I kept hitting refresh on the weather app on my phone, hoping it would go from awesome to rain for today. It never did, so I kept coming up with other excuses to not ride, like my tires are probably low on air and I haven't lubed the chain in awhile 😱

the next two days look gorgeous for riding bicycles into work

you won't! Those barriers are clutch! Maybe too clutch for the next few days? I actually felt the sweat on my back today.

I'm gonna my best to stick to this. I'm riding a steel Jamis Quest that I really like with good components. I will hopefully commute enough to bank an exclusive commuter bike. Aka excuse for a new bike

If you run out of excuses, let me know- I've got a sh!t ton.
Wait, I mean- get out there!

jmanic can you get a physical loop in van cortland park and if so which morning you gonna show me 😉

I dunno about a loop, but there's actually some dirt in Van Cortland. I believe it's officially a part of the Aqueduct trail that goes all the way up to Croton dam. There's some trails off the side of the main trail, but I don't think it's very much.

When we get longer days, less chance of someone hitting us with a baseball bat and taking our bikes, may be we can take the whole trail up to the dam on some Friday.

No way Matty-
I've got a KOM up there, you think I'm bringing a fox to the henhouse? 😉

Serious, like Soundz says, I don't think there's much of a loop up there.
With a little recon, you might be able to loop around the Bronx and back down the West side, but not much in the way of bike friendly routes connecting things on the East side.
The nicest riding in the Bronx is all the way East in Pelham Bay Park, and there may not be enough to warrant a trip out- maybe 5 miles of paths,
and probably 12 or so miles from the Bridge.

A trip straight up North is feasible- folks do commute from Westchester on that route I think.
And plus Soundz knows the way....
Say when- I'm in.

Check out the green bike paths. As you see there's not much there worth a loop. Streets around there are very busy or highways. The paved greenway path thing that goes North/South along Saw Mill will take you all the way to Brewster! Liong has done it.

If you head East in Yonkers, there's a another green line that goes North/South next to the Hudson River. That's the Aqueduct trail which will take you to Croton Dam. There's a bunch of tricky spots where street navigation is required before you get back on the trail.

been checking in, enjoying your posts about commuting!

I'm hoping to start up my partial-commute next week...

i passed on biking yesterday because of early morning meeting and passed today cause I have to inspect my vehicle, the irony. Hoping I can ride TH & FR
