Dragons are F'ing Awesome

SWWW

Bike ride yesterday. 1 hour in the swamp with Andy. 4th day in a row. Tonight will be 5. The journey of 1000 miles...

There's an outside chance we go for 1:45 tonight to get 4 points on the March contest. We'll see. Feel like there's so much to do.

I'm happy this is our last week of riding in the dark after work.

Moxie

Nothing to do with this, but one of the guys at work pointed out that Service-Now made a Harlem Shake video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wbGfXwJrsQ&feature=share

The dude at the end of the first scene is the CEO of the company. I've eaten breakfast with this guy in the grand breakfast room at the NYSE and I've stood near him on the floor as he was being interviewed after their IPO. It's just so strange, even for me. That's saying something.

PEARL - please post the pancake-bacon video because I need to get this awful song out of my head.

Matty

Didn't feel like getting drunk after I dropped her off, though I did feel like Milhouse a little bit driving around aimlessly looking for a hoop. I did have 1 Nugget Nectar later that night. This year's batch is really good.

PJ - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea. That album is incredible.

Tuesday Rides

These are really team-only and start at my house. We ride for 1.5-2 hours then eat dinner and drink a few beers. Details TBD.

Exceptions to the team-only thing are fine. If you read this, you're good. Last year we let Lou join. This year, by the way, Lou will be in blue orange. Some rides are social, some are killer. But even the killer ones we basically regroup at the top of every climb. The most people we had last year was 9, but we rode to the HG ride that week. I think it was the second Tuesday ride of the year. IIRC only 3 of us made it back with the front of the pack.

Rides will be mixed - hard, mixed/social, women-only. I have high heels for the last one if needed...

Jake & BB

Maybe a basketball game followed by a sushi eat off?

Maybe Walter can host. I hear he likes beer.

Busy

Busy at work today. No time for love, Doctor Jones. Or a long post.

Shaved legs too?

Lou if you shave your legs I'll unfriend you. I'm pretty sure you don't have much hair on your legs though... I'm not sure how I know this but I feel like this has been brought up before.

Men should have hairy legs & a beard. Manly things. Dirty hands and a greasy shirt and work boots. Seriously, why the hell do you men shave your legs? You know how annoying shaving your legs is? It takes up so much time in the shower and it grows back in like 2 seconds. Especially when it's cold out and you get goosebumps and BAM shit is right back there before you even leave the shower.

This is just something I will never understand

I thank you for this.... Its time to bring back the 70's.

:getsome: hell yes :getsome:

Yeah buddy!

This!

Lou if you shave your legs I'll unfriend you.

I have no intention of doing so, but if I did I would make you still be my friend! You shave your legs and I don't hold it against you 🙄

The leg shaving comment was directed towards Norm who will be wearing high heels on the girls rides.

yeah what he said...

I think the questions is how does Lou not do this already? Clean look with bikes and kits and then sports hairy legs? Really doesn't compute once you through the tri thing in.

Music

Crow - yes
NBK - I do remember liking it at the time
Clerks - solid, belongs in this discussion
Singles - the winner. Love the movie & soundtrack.

Jeremy asks if you can have a favorite band. It's a good question. You really get albums these days. Like you have a Radiohead album that just kills, or PJ Harvey. Yeah, I know many of you won't liker her. But I nod to G on that one. Then you get the next Radiohead or PJ album and you think, boy that's not as good and move on. It's a fair point but the game "what 10 albums would you bring on a desert island?" would suck without the idea of distinct entities. Well, in this case albums, not so much bands. What would I have to include?

* Nothing Shocking
* Ritual de lo Habitual
* Singles soundtrack
* the 50 best cartoon jingles of 1973-1983

No...I don't know how to even answer this question. Can I bring 10 bands?

* Jane's Addiction
* Led Zeppelin
* Van Halen (the early years)

PJ - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea. That album is incredible.
OK.

*Soundtracks: Not really consumer, unless the music is so intrinsic to the film that it evokes new associations as a result. Tarantino is our generation's master of this, following in the footsteps of Scorsese, among others. Yes, I bought the Singles soundtrack as soon as it came out, and love most of those songs, though I don't dig the film all that much.

*PJ Harvey/Radiohead: In my mind, they really can do no wrong, especially Radiohead. I mean, In Rainbows blows Pablo Honey away, as far as I'm concerned, so they've not lost a thing as time has gone by. And yes, Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea is indeed incredible. Her best work, probably, along with Rid of Me, IMO.

And if you can't decide between the two, there's always this, which gives me shivers every time I hear it:

*Yes, you can and should have a favorite band, or at least a few you love so much you can't decide which is the only one. Ten albums? NFW. A couple of my buddies at work and I just compared lists of Top 12 (the guy who started it called this number) Bands. Here is mine:

1. Led Zeppelin
2. The Beatles
3. Fugazi
4. Iron Maiden
5. Guided By Voices
6. Black Sabbath
7. Joy Division
8. Neurosis
9. Frank Zappa
10. Pearl Jam
11. The Who
12. The Clash

Just an FYI. The HGC A-Rides start next Tuesday @ 5:30. Starting with the shorter swamp loop and swapping to the longer loop once daylight becomes available. Most of ya'll know the drill.

He only said this cause he's jealous of Geddy Lee's good looks.
😛

Or the fact that Geddy managed to somehow be the front man of a very popular band for a really long time without learning how to play the bass guitar or sing. But I guess you can't expect much, they are Canadian after all.
