Well, technically, I have 3 foot eves so it stays dry, and I don't salt the front, or rear, of my domicile. Duh.

I've never seen one of those in real life so I hope it doesn't really exist. That just seems like a bad idea.maybe if you put the hitch on the front of the car it wont rust?

Yeah. My rack is in awful shape (5 years old). Rust started early and my dad (a welder) sandblasted and repainted it. Replaced a few parts too.
We live in a condo with no space/backyard. And we use it just about every weekend all year long. So taking it off is not an option for us.

the 4 bike version is a serious workout (i went kuat). was thinking of getting one of those wall mount receivers and hanging it - nah.

Try putting in a warranty claim through their website. My rack is 5 years old as well. Sent in a few pics and my receipt and 2 days later a whole new rack was on my doorstep. That's customer service!!!
Aluminum will corrode too, esp with salt. Yah, check beneath your handlebars from time to time.

already tried, and before anyone posts, this was all with the initial rust that I tried with Thule. NOT after my dad worked on it (i know it's no longer something Thule will respond to).
My experiences with this (specifically their customer service) have me questioning whether to buy Thule again (I posted for feedback on a new rack over a year ago/input).
