Verizon Droid

Correct me if I'm wrong but unless you plan on hacking the phone you have nothing to worry about....

Probably not...but if luke gets one...then we will be listening to endless ranting about how whoever owns motorolla is ruining his life 😉

Actually...Bill Lear (lear jets) started motorola....Originally motorola made car radios way back in 1930s. Hence the name..."motor" and "victrola". Grandpa's history lesson 🙂

Yes..when it is released for that specific phone, it will be an over the air update.

Whenever I do an early upgrade on a Droid device, I always have issues with the marketplace. Apps missing, wrong versions, etc...
So I've steered away from doing it on my personal devices.

But to your point, yes you are right. Its locked down.

Here's a reality check on the Droid-X ROM lockdown issue. It's sounding like it may be getting blown out of proportion.

All they're saying is that it MIGHT be possible AT SOME POINT to circumvent the whole efuse bit, but not that it currently is (though it may or may not be easy or hard 😛). So if you did it you'd be out a phone till some geeks in off-white tidy-whities figures it out. In either case I'm an iPhone user 😛

Yeah, Iphones have no such issues. Just keep your hand away from it while talking and make sure you upgrade your imac and $70 cables at the same time you update softward/hardware on other devices. I will keep my standard usb and backward compatible devices thank you very much.

I never thought I'd be about hacking my phone, just seems to take too much time to figure it all out...But 2.2 (if it really is that much faster) and Flash might be worth it...

After briefly looking at those directions for the froyo update, I would just wait. Doesn't seem worth it. But that's just me.

Thanks for the flash link. Now I have a smart phone with flash. I am the envy of millions. Now....what's a site I can test it with... lol.

I think keeping Flash out of smartphones is a better idea. I think we're getting into the realm of "asking too much" and when these phones start getting fried after 6 months, it won't be a surprise.

When I go to a Flash website with a desktop the damn thing hiccups because it's such a memory hog. I can't see any added benefit in running it on these far less powerful devices.

Plus Flash is a hack anyway. It should be extinct.
