hey does anyone know what they're doing at the pipeline? between pines and old coal they were using bunch of heavy equipment and there were 3-4 pickup trucks there. they were also shuttling people back and forth on some sort of offroad golf carts

Rode Cherry Valley side. Trails in great shape. Leaves really starting to fall.

Gravel road is on rough shape. My Subie did fine but if you have 2WD or low clearance consider parking elsewhere

they're still out there a week later, and it seems like a fairly major operation. maybe a dozen or so pickup trucks and a LOT of workers, maybe 20 or so. still have no idea what they're doing.

trails are in pretty good shape except there are still three trees down at the beginning of turkey ridge right after old coal. the first one is a PITA crawl under/through with multiple branches and the second one a short distance later is a pretty big one that's been down for a month at least. probably need a chainsaw for that one. 3rd one is a bit smaller but still a pain. i'm half tempted to ask the pipeline workers to clear them for a $20 bribe

there's a LOT of fall foliage down now obscuring most of the trails, but everything is pretty dry surprisingly. hopefully with the low overnight temps the rattlesnakes are finally gone (the only thing that truly terrifies me in this damned park, and i have encountered FOUR of them this season), but the bears are still most definitely out and about. saw 3 yesterday

I think Tennessee gas is doing maintenance on the pipeline right of way and some pipeline inspections. I’m good friends with the pipeline manager for the area, I can inquire. I also used to do this in my previous like as im an engineer so I have a fair idea.
